If you are unsure if your pet needs an immediate medical intervention - watch out for these signs which indicate that they may be at a serious risk:
- Difficulty breathing
- Inability to urinate or defecate
- Unconsciousness
- Diarrhea that persists for more than 24 hours
- Blood in the urine or feces
- Swelling of the abdomen; also if the abdomen is overly warm
- You suspect your pet has ingested a toxic substance such as rat poison, antifreeze, a household cleaning product, or medication which they were not prescribed
- Signs of extreme pain such as whining/crying, hiding, or shaking
Remember that if you are unsure about the seriousness of the situation; you are never wrong to call and ask our professional team. We are trained for these situations and there is no reason to ever feel embarrassed when the wellbeing of your best friend is at hand. In addition, we encourage you to call as far in advance as possible if your pet requires urgent care, even if this means calling as you rush them to the car. It will help us prepare - especially if it is during a time when we may have other appointments.
